The output of a solar panel is usually stated in watts, determined by multiplying the rated voltage by the rated amperage. The formula for wattage is V x A = W. A 12 volt 60 watt solar panel has a rated voltage of 17.1 and a rated 3.5 amperage. With 6 hrs peak sun per day a 60 watt panel averages 360 watt hours of power per day. In a complete system, solar panels are wired in series or parallel to increase voltage or amperage respectively. Storage batteries, controller's & inverters are used to store & supply the 110v AC electricity. Installations can be from just a few panels for houses to 100's of solar panels for industrial applications or thousands of solar panels for area power stations.
